Avoid the crowded Beaches - Enjoy these lesser known Nusa Penida Gems instead

Tembeling Forest and Springs

It’s cool and shady here, where tropical rainforest meets the sea. Take a refreshing dip in the natural spring water rock pools. Then explore the sea cave and add your own rock art installation to the collection. Definitely do not attempt the treacherous drive down on your own. Local ojek (motorbike taxi) drivers offer their services from the parking space at the top. Locals use these springs as a source of holy water, and you will see temples and deity statues here. Strictly not to be touched.

Suwehan Beach

It’s quiet and stunningly beautiful. To make the most of this secret spot make sure to time your trip so that you arrive at low tide. At high tide the sandy beach disappears and its waves crash up against the limestone cliff.

Lumangan Beach

From above you overlook Manta Bay where you can see the giant oceanic manta rays gracefully circling the cleaning station here. These magnificent creatures are one of the main drawcards of Nusa Penida diving. Access stairs were only recently cut into the cliff, so you can now access the beach. The steps are steep but short. It’s worth the climb.
  • “Came here during happy hour buy 1 get 1 cocktails. They do serve nice cocktails. Very nice atmosphere and beautiful setting overlooking the ocean during sunset. Foods were also delicious, try the grilled fish and octopus. A must visit spot if you're in Nusa Penida area.”

  • “Friendly people, good bands, great views. The fish tacos were amazing. Had to come back and eat them again. To be fair, the burgers and other dishes looked delicious too. Vegetarian and vegan dishes and desserts as well.”
